Your Gift Restores Confidence and Hope
Hair Donation Form & Guidelines
Be a part of the journey—help us give the gift of confidence and hope.
Your hair donation is a beautiful act of kindness. Every ponytail helps us create free, human‑hair wigs for children and adults experiencing medical hair loss. Below you’ll find everything you need to prepare and send your donation.
Hair We Accept
✔ We accept hair at 12 inches and longer, and we can also use 8-inch ponytails through our Ponytail Tracking Program.
Here’s how it works:
12 inches (standard donation)
This is our most common donation length. Longer ponytails are our greatest need, and financial support helps us process and use every donation as quickly as possible.
8 inches (only with Ponytail Tracking Program)
Shorter ponytails can be used when donors help cover the cost of processing. This support ensures that every length of hair — not just the longest — can become part of a finished wig.
✔ Dyed hair (natural colors only, no bleach)
✔ Permed or straightened hair (after trimming damaged ends)
✔ Gray or white hair
Hair We Do Not Accept
✖ Bleached or lightened hair
✖ Hair dyed unnatural colors
✖ Wet hair
✖ Hair not sealed in a plastic bag
How to Prepare Your Hair for Donation
Hair must be clean and completely dry before cutting
Secure hair into multiple small ponytails (not one large ponytail) to maximize usable hair
Do not braid hair (unless it was already cut in a braid, in which case leave it as is)
Curly/wavy hair: Keep natural texture—do not straighten
Cut 1” above the hair bands (this inch is included in the donation length)
Secure small ponytails together at the top with a rubber band or ribbon
Place in a sealed plastic bag with your name and contact information
How to Send Your Hair
Use a padded envelope or box (not a paper envelope) to prevent damage

Your Hair Gives Hope — Your Gift Completes the Wig
Most people don’t know this, but donated hair covers only a portion of what it takes to create a free human‑hair wig for someone facing cancer or another form of medical hair loss.
Each wig requires:
5–9 ponytails
50+ hours of hand‑tying and construction
Specialized wig‑making materials
Shipping to and from our factory partner
Final shipping to the recipient at no cost
Every ponytail costs $150 to process before it can be used in a wig.
Your financial support helps us turn your hair donation into a finished wig for someone who truly needs it. Any amount makes a difference and helps us use every ponytail we receive.
✨ Ponytail Tracking Program
Our Ponytail Tracking Program helps fund the cost of turning donated ponytails into finished wigs for people facing cancer and other forms of medical hair loss. Your $150 contribution directly supports wig production — especially for shorter ponytails that require more hair to complete a wig.
As a thank you for helping us create a finished wig, you will also receive:
A photo of the wig your hair helped create
A certificate of appreciation
An “I Made the Cut” T‑shirt
Ways to Support Your Ponytail
You can make your $150 contribution in whichever way is easiest for you:
Start a fundraiser on social media using our link (Any additional funds will be paid forward to help cover unsponsored ponytails.)
Include a check in the envelope with your hair
Pay through PayPal or Venmo
This keeps your ponytail moving through our process and helps us turn it into a finished wig for someone facing cancer or another form of medical hair loss.
