Six year old Shae has donated her hair to 4 year old Kaelynn. Shae and her mom made this video:
With the help of Shae, Kaelynn’s wig fundraiser reached its goal within a few days.
Lots of people showed their support. Every little bit helped us reach our goal!
Shae is so proud (as she should be) of the gift she was able to give to Kaelynn but it didn’t stop there. Shae had said that she wanted to send Kaelynn some stickers, she included this card that she made for Kaelynn with her ponytail.
Sorry Kaelynn and Shae, I cut the card a little by accident when I opened the envelope, it was taped up VERY well! I will tape it back together before I send it to Kaelynn.
Shae even included her baby brother’s name when she signed the card.
This gesture from Shae and her family has melted me. Remember the line from the Grinch? “His heart grew three sizes that day”. This is how Shae made me feel today!
What happens with Shae’s hair and Kaelynn’s wig now?
We are waiting on another few ponytails to come in and then we will begin to make Kaelynn’s wig. The wig will be custom made. First we will count each hair and arrange them by length. All of the hairs will be blended together and we will sew it to the wig. This whole process will take about six weeks…. please be patient!!
If you have thought about donating your hair, we ask that you start a fundraiser, the money you raise will go directly into making a wig out of your hair, its easy to do!
We ask you to do this because our goal is to make a wig in every color and every size so that we can have them readily available for people in need.
Here is a video that explains how it works:
We need to share stories like this. Good stories.
With so much bad in the world, we have to remember there IS MORE GOOD in the world than there is bad!
When we started Hair We Share, we knew we could make a positive difference in the lives of people who have lost their hair. We have worked with hair loss clients for many years. We did not realize though the impact we would have making the ponytail donation! Shae did not like her hair cut when she first got it. But now she likes it and she feels good that she will help Kaelynn! We are constantly getting messages from people who have donated their hair, about how the experience of donating and seeing the difference it is making in the life of someone else has taught them the true gift of giving.
Thank you for taking the time to read, as always please comment below, and remember It Feels Good To Do Good!
