Hair For All 2016! This new program will concentrate on fundraising, to cover the expense of manufacturing all of the beautiful hair we have collected into “semi custom wigs”.
Hair We Share clients will no longer have to wait the customary 8 weeks – excruciatingly long for someone with no hair – to receive their wigs. Rather, through our inventory of semi-custom wigs, which include a wide variety of colors and textures, we provide wigs to our recipients in as little as two weeks. Once we match the client with the appropriate wig it is then cut and styled and it is ready to wear. Hair We Share provides wigs to people of any age, but we are particularly committed to children, for whom hair loss creates unique social challenges.
Our First Test —
We unexpectedly tested the process of the semi custom wig this week and it was FLAWLESS! We happened to have just made our first prototype when we saw this post on Facebook:
Today I’m mourning the loss of my “Mare Hair”. What it was pre IV chemo in 2003, the carnage caused to it by the treatment that is now no longer working and the grave prospect that I will die bald despite my past protests about never doing IV chemo again it looks like that’s what may be on the horizon for me. So, PLEASE DO NOT tell me that “it’s just hair” and “that it will grow back.” It won’t. I’ll be on treatment until I die. It’s much more than hair for me. It’s a part of who I am, it’s what keeps me anonymous out in the real world. Once I’m bald, the looks change because then everyone knows that I have cancer.
Coincidence or fate? our prototype was a match for this lovely lady! The wig just needed a few adjustments to customize it for an exact match. MaryAnne calls her hair “Mare Hair” and Mare Hair is curly so first we gave her a perm….
Then we sent MaryAnne a photo for her approval:
Approved! MaryAnne named her Francesca– a good Italian girl. We set up an appointment to deliver Francesca at Racine Salon de Beaute & Spa to deliver her wig. Her hair dresser made minor adjustments to the cut and MaryAnne and Francesca were a perfect match.
Just Some of The Feedback:
